Anglers from all over the United States will converge on the newly renovated South Seas Island Resort, a 330-acre plantation-style resort -- located off the Southwest coast of Florida on Captiva Island - from June 8-11, 2006 to compete in The Seventeenth Annual Caloosa Catch & Release presented by The Maverick Boat Company and Yamaha.
Held at Bayside Marina in South Seas Island Resort, The Caloosa Catch & Release Tournament is the largest, most prestigious single site flats tournament in Florida and one of the top tournaments in the country. More than 120 teams will compete for over $30,000 for the largest snook, redfish and trout.
The tournament allows contestants of all fishing skills to compete against one another in four divisions - guided, angler, ladies and youth. Check-in begins Thursday, June 8 at noon with refreshments from The Beached Whale. Anglers will receive custom embroidered hats, and original art, screen printed T-shirts created by Screenprint Plus, Caloosa Tournament Edition Bimini Bay fishing shirts and many other specialty tournament items. There will be a Captain's Party and Rules Meeting that evening. Tournament competition begins on Friday and continues on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Other fishing tournaments in the series include The Back Country Classic to be held in Naples, Florida on July 21 & 22, at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriot, The Seventh Annual Summer Slam Flats Tournament to be held on September 22 & 23 and The Caloosa Grand Championship taking place on November 3 & 4 both at South Seas Island Resort.
