26th Annual
Benefiting the Community through
Jacksonville Marine Charities, Inc.
The BellSouth Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, held each year in July, is the largest kingfish fishing tournament in the country. In addition to the two-day general tournament, this spectacular week-long event also includes an exclusive VIP Tournament, Publix Junior Angler Tournament and KidZone play area, food festival, live entertainment, and much more.
The annual event is a long-standing tradition and free event for residents of the Jacksonville area. Established in 1980, the GJKT combines the thrill of competition with a fun, family atmosphere. One thousand boats fish the week long event for over $500,000 in prizes. Annually, the Tournament attracts between 20,000 to 30,000 spectators to watch the weigh-in and enjoy the festivities. Favorite attractions include the Food Festival; the KidZone, a free play area for kids ages 3-14; the spacious Liars' Tent, featuring live entertainment ; and the Boatique exhibit area, offering a variety of unique merchandise. As in the past, the weeklong festivities will be capped off with a fabulous fireworks display.
The Kingfish Fishing Tournament Site is held at Sisters Creek Park.
Jacksonville Marine Charities, Inc. utilizes the proceeds from the BellSouth Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament to support marine science, preservation, and education. The effects of these donations are far-reaching, benefiting not only Jacksonville and the First Coast but also the entire state of Florida. JMC is proud to support a variety of marine-focused charitable programs within the community.
